In Österreich sind die Buchten in den Mastbetrieben in der Regel mit Vollspaltenboden ausgestattet. Die neuen Vorgaben für die „Gruppenhaltung neu” sehen mehr Platz für die Schweine vor. Sie lassen jedoch einen perforierten Boden als „planbefestigten Liegebereich” zu und erlauben dadurch weiterhin Spaltenböden.
Die Analyse kommt zu dem klaren Ergebnis: Weder unstrukturierte Buchten noch die „Gruppenhaltung neu“ erfüllen die gesetzlichen Anforderungen an den Liegebereich.
Unsere Analyse verdeutlicht, dass die aktuellen Haltungssysteme für Schweine in der Mast nicht nur die gesetzlichen Anforderungen verfehlen, sondern auch grundlegende Bedürfnisse der Tiere ignorieren. Die Forschungsergebnisse belegen die erheblichen Beeinträchtigungen durch den harten Spaltenboden für die Tiere.
